Long-lasting and lip-tingling
Speyside, Spey
The nose was clean and bright (laundry, summer flower meadows, yellow plums, custard Danish, crumbly mint sweets) but also had empty balsa cigar boxes. The initial palate had golden syrup and custard donuts, morphing into long-lasting, lip-tingling penetration of sweet heat – (chocolate-coated ginger biscuits, cough syrup, cinnamon swirls, clove rock, mild curry spice, Fox’s Glacier mints). The reduced nose discovered pumpkin seed flapjacks, golden meringues, loaf sugar in hessian, chocolate-covered mint cracknel and soft leather. The palate was lip-smackingly tasty – dolly mixtures, iced gems, Scottish fruit slice and syrupy apples in custard – finishing with mouth-numbing cardamom and eucalyptus sweets.
