Three From Four
Three From Four
Situated on the northernmost whisky-producing island in Scotland, Distillery No. 4 is known for using locally cut peat mixed with heather to produce a robust and earthy spirit with a thin veil of smoke. This gentle yet peppery style has become a gateway for many whisky lovers who are intrigued by peat smoke but not yet ready to tackle the bold and aggressive style of whisky produced by distillers further south.
Most of the whisky produced by Distillery 4 is matured in Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks, offering a wonderful marriage between the spirit’s mildly coastal character with the rich, fruity notes of the fortified wine. In addition to bottling some of the very best Oloroso sherry casks, we are also fortunate to offer whisky produced by Distillery 4 that has been matured in American oak, ex-Bourbon casks. This lighter style of oak gives Society members an opportunity to experience the raw intensity of the island’s spirit with an intensified delivery of peat smoke.
Available today are three exciting expressions from Distillery 4, each offering flavours entirely unique to one another. Cask 4.231’Harbour-side takeaway’is bold and coastal with notes of sea salt, heather and smoke.
